The June Plum is a tropical fruit tree that quickly produces large fruit. June plums make a great snack whilst on the move, but also a great addition to a savoury salad.
History
June plums had been growing for hundreds of years before infamous Captain, William Bligh, brought June plums to Jamaica for the very first time in 1782. From there, they spread across the West Indies to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and to tropical Latin America.
Regions
Our June plums are from Jamaica, but they can be found growing all over the Caribbean and South East Asia.
Flavours & Texture
June plums have a slightly musky flavour with a sour undertone, like a subtle mix of pineapple, mango, and apple. They have a crisp texture, like an apple. They work well in savoury salads.
Preparation
Rinse under water and eat like an apple, there is a seed inside which is not edible. You can also slice and add to a salad.
